my youth

Where'd it go?

The last time I tutored N, I started talking to him about Super Mario Bros. 3. He wasn't especially impressed, but he likes my stories so he put up with my ramblings.

I gave him a brief lesson about the introduction of Super Mario Bros. 3 that occurred in The Wizard and some information on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

He was kind of excited when I promised him I would bring in the booklet they gave out at the theatre when I first saw The Wizard, and my comic book from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. (I'm afraid I had to leave my The Wizard movie poster at home, but I did bring in a story I wrote in grade three entitled "The Nintendo Championships"--It was for a lesson on copyright infringement. ;) )

Anyway, as I was telling him about how amazing it was for me when I found out there was flying (FLYING!) in SMB:3, I realized what an old fart I've turned into. It was classic! N was so nonplused--"Uh. So what's the big deal, Teach?"

When did my past become so kitsch?

All in all, N enjoyed my lesson as he asked me whether I was passing down my paraphernalia to him. As if! He'd never appreciate those useless wonders as I do!

And another thing, it's no wonder I'm single--Clearly, I'm still living in 1990!

P.S. Did you know that Sam Rockwell played the Head Thug in the original Ninja Turtle movie?! Get out!
