A Dateless Wonder

The life and times of a great Dateless Wonder.

So Junky and I went out of lunch on Monday. It was my responsibility to blog about it, but I haven't been up to blogging in the last little while so I'm a little late. :)

I hadn't seen Junky in awhile so it was great to catch up with her. We had dim sum at an overpriced (for dim sum) but nice restaurant at Yonge and Eg. And then topped it off with cupcakes.

Junky's good because, like me, she enjoys fine dining and browsing through bookstores. I love browsing through bookstores. It was there that I professed my love for both Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver. I'm in love with foodies.

Now, there's this little cupcake shop in the area, and I've been wanting to go there for a few years ago. I've really only heard bad things about it, but I mean, if a cupcake shop can survive for over a month, you figure there's something to their cupcakes.

WRONG.

They were crappy.
Oh well.

In other news, new season of volleyball started up again and we played hot guy again. I've rediscovered my powers for invisiblity. Meh what can you do.

jeez

Why is it that whenever we find potentially crush worthy material, we'll never end up seeing the guy again?

My friend and I both agreed that the guy on the other volleyball team we played against tonight was quite oh la la. And he and his entire team were very nice and smiley...which is (for some reason) a rarity amongst these faux beach volleyball players. However, tonight was the last night for this session.

Jeez.

BooksBooksBooks

Number of books I own:

Just under 250.
And that doesn't include the Babysitters' Club collection.

Last book I bought:

I have to make that books. I had a gift certificate to that I have been holding on to for two years now. $100 to spend at the Women's Bookstore. YEECH! They overcharged me once when I was buying course books, so they gave me my course books for free (good thing, 'cause i dropped the course) and $100. They don't have many options when it comes to fiction so I purchased:

Doris Lessing - The Grandmothers
Doris Lessing - The Golden Notebook
Carole Shields et al. Dropped Threads
Elfriede Jelinek - The Piano Teacher

Last book I read:

I'm Not Scared by Niccolo Ammaniti
I liked the movie more, go see the move.

5 books that mean a lot to me:

1. The Princess Bride by William Goldman - THE BEST BOOK EVER!

2. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk - Well, my box of stuff from Chuck Palahniuk means more to me than Flight Club, but whatever.

3. Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley and Me, Elizabeth by E.L. Konigsberg - BEST CHILDREN'S BOOK EVER!

4. The Headless Cupid by Zilpha Keatley Snyder

5. From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by Zilpha Keatley Snyder

Hmmm.. 3/5 are children's books.

Who can I tag? Everyone I know who reads has already done it...

I've had a hard time sitting down to write.

I really need to start wearing my glasses, I got them over two years ago and I only wear them in class, if at all. I think my vision is getting worse as more and more men are turning into transformers.

transformer n.
1. A man who looks good from far away, but bad close up.

Work is going well and I'm enjoying myself. Ack. I didn't think I'd say I enjoy library work, but I am. There's a calmness to it all. Let's hope this happiness continues...Knock on wood.

One of my brothers is travelling in Japan for three weeks. Lucky duck.

That's all for now.
